Hudson Community Services: Community Education, School Age Care, Summer Programs

Art Adventures will take us around the world and throughout time in our quest to create works of art inspired by ancient civilizations and diverse cultures. We will draw, paint, and sculpt as we explore Egypt, Greece, China and other fascinating sites around the globe. Have fun learning new things while practicing your art skills. This class is for those students entering 3rd grade in the fall.

Students will be guided on making fun and popular crafts using a Cricut cutting machine and software. This class is for those students entering 4th and 5th grades in the fall.

This class is for those students that enjoy dinosaurs. We will learn about a variety of dinosaurs and will discover fun dinosaur facts. We will read and sing about dinosaurs and will also create dinosaur themed art projects. This class is for students entering 1st and 2nd grades in the fall.

In this class, we will analyze and break down how figurative language works in our daily lives and then apply these skills to write in a variety of formats including poetry, stories/narratives, and persuasive techniques. We'll break down how stories are made, how to develop interesting and unique characters, and why stories are written in the first place - teaching lessons and giving students stories they can relate to their own personal lives. This class is for those students entering 4th & 5th grades in the fall.

This enrichment offering will explore areas of science and environmental education. Examples may include animals, plants, insects, dinosaurs and endangered species, water, fire, electricity, light, color, earth materials, and recycling. This class is for those students entering 1st grade in the fall.

In this class, we’ll explore the different aspects of emotionally engaging topics by reading/discussing quality books. We will then create an art/craft project that will remind us of what we learned. Topics include: kindness, inclusion, friendship, differences, courage, acceptance, perseverance! This class is for those students entering 1st & 2nd grades in the fall.
