Hudson Community Services: Community Education, School Age Care, Summer Programs

A week-long "mini-camp” for Orchestra students entering 5th through 7th grades. Students who participate will not only have a good refresher of what they learned last year in Orchestra but will be able to get a jump start on what we will be covering in the coming year! All grade levels will have a variety of classes and rehearsals during the 3 hour time period. It is required that students have had at least one year of Orchestra instruction to participate in Orchestra Camp.

Welcome all beginning 6th grade band students! This is a week filled with learning how to play your new instrument in 6th grade! During this 4-hour time period, students will take part in full band rehearsals, smaller group lessons, and a final concert on Friday afternoon. Students who go to camp will be receiving 20 hours of instruction before school even begins, and it is HIGHLY encouraged that students attend this band camp. This is also when students will receive their instruments! This camp is for students who are registered to participate in band in 6th grade.

Welcome back 7th and 8th grade students! Come knock off some rust and remind yourself of how to play your instrument. At this camp we will make sure that all 7th and 8th grade band students' instruments work after a hectic school year and summer, as well as remind ourselves of how to play in a full band. At this camp, students will take part in full band rehearsals, smaller group lessons, as well as a final concert on Friday afternoon for the beginning 6th grade band students and families!

An exciting week for incoming 8th grade Orchestra students to explore pop, rock, and jazz music. Students will learn about how these types of music are created and some different playing techniques that are necessary to play this kind of music. Students will learn how to map out a tune, find the chords, and begin learning how to create a transcription of a piece of popular music. Class Limit: 30

Do you ever just need a space to work on your artistic ideas? Well here it is. This class gives you a place to work on projects that you may not have the space or supplies for. We offer many mediums to work with including clay, pencils, oil pastels, pen and ink, and more. You could also bring any kits you may not have had time or space to work on. Please note there is a $10 fee for this class. Class Limit: 24

This class will focus on large projects for students who are interested in art, movement, and representation of themselves in the work they produce. Students will complete 4 sculpture/3D based projects throughout the duration of the camp. Class Limit: 45

Come and explore how to make different kinds of bracelets using a variety of materials. You will walk out of this class with decorative accessories for you or your friends and family!! Class Limit: 24

Do you enjoy being crafty and creative? Do you enjoy making easy snacks? Do you want to experiment with different materials to create 10 complete projects? Each day we will create a new project inspired by Pinterest! If you are feeling inspired and love to craft, this is the class for you. We will have a great time creating fun projects! Basic kitchen measuring and techniques will be used to help prepare each recipe. Come to class hungry as you will get to taste all the foods you create. Please note this class has a $10 fee for supplies. Class Limit: 24

Connection is an important piece of school success. This class will connect incoming 9th grade students to Hudson High School through adult connection, peer connection, understanding the high school system and gaining confidence on transitioning to high school. We will continue exploration of students’ 4 Year Plan as it relates to ACP and support student success through conversation, experience and connection. This class will be held at Hudson High School and runs for three days (July 29, 30, and 31 ONLY) Class Limit: 50

LEGO building can help us to disconnect from everyday stresses and bring a little extra joy into our lives. We will use legos to practice mindfulness. Sometimes, we will get engrossed even when we don’t have a plan that tells us precisely what to build. And other times, we will be given lego challenges that will focus on specific tasks. Along the way, we will be aware of the mindfulness practicing we are doing with legos. Let's build. Class Limit: 24

WHAT? A whole class dedicated to miniatures? Sign me up. We will create tiny settings and objects in this class using cardboard, paint, fabric and found objects. Past settings have included outdoor parks, bakeries, houses, single rooms and favorite stores. Class Limit: 24
