  • Beginner Kayak Paddle on Lake Mallalieu

    Join Mike Deneen of Willow Kayaks for this introductory kayak class and paddle on beautiful Lake Mallalieu. The first hour of this course will provide an introduction to kayaking and instruction. The last 90-minutes, you will get to practice your skills and free paddle on your own. We will be meeting at Corky’s Landing on 2nd Street. Children under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult who will remain on site to supervise. Please specify your height and weight to ensure appropriate-sized equipment. Adults and children should register separately if they will be kayaking together. There is an inherent risk of accident and injury in any activity. The Hudson School District and Willow Kayaks assume no responsibility for injuries received during this activity. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver.

    Cell-level meditation involves recognizing the intricate relationship between cells, thoughts, emotions, and our body. You came into this world a perfect blend of high vibration for healthy cell activity. Every body system and organ functioned with ease and flow. Throughout life challenges, these relationships are hampered, and there can be a breakdown or disconnect. In this meditation series, we nurture a healthy environment for our cells to thrive through practices like meditation, mindfulness, affirmation, and self-awareness. Each student will receive an electronic journal. Students should bring a yoga mat and pillows/cushions.
  • Colorful Glass Mosaic Suncatcher or Table Lamp

    Glass mosaic sounds like a fancy, difficult art form; however, in this class, you will learn how it can be fun and easy while creating a table lamp or suncatcher! Look through the idea book, browse the patterns and stencils, and choose from dozens of colors of precut glass. The first evening will involve homework and the second evening will be grouting. There will be time to make multiple suncatchers too! The 8”x8”x3” square lamp is $30, the 4”x9” rectangle lamp is $45. The 10” diameter suncatcher is $25, 8” is $23, and 6” is $18. Lamp/suncatcher fees are to be paid directly to the instructor on the first night of class. When registering, please indicate/select the project you’ll be making (8x8 lamp, 4x9 lamp, or suncatcher).

  • Monarch Tagging

    Join Carpenter Nature Center and discover the amazing world of the Monarch Butterfly. We start by learning about the life cycle of a butterfly, their importance in the environment and gain insight into their amazing migration to Mexico. We will also catch, tag and release wild monarchs. This data is then submitted to Monarch Watch and used for scientific research across North America. (Note: We will not be able to catch or release butterflies in the event of rain.) Students enrolled in the Monarch Tagging class are invited to stay after the class is finished to participate in a Pollinator & Native Plant Festival at the Carpenter Nature Center. This free event is scheduled from 12:00-4:00 pm on Saturday, August 17, and highlights native plants and invertebrate communities. Please wear clothing appropriate for walking off-trail through long grass. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Parent/Child Pottery Workshop Sampler

    This class is for those who love to create things with their hands. During this parent/child pottery workshop sampler, participants will use a slab roller, extruder and an electric pottery wheel. We will make a variety of objects for friends and family members. Participants will also use a variety of colors to glaze their pieces at the end of class. The instructor will add a clear glaze finish and fire the pieces the following week. Adults and children should each register separately for this class. Both new and returning students are welcome. Dress in grubby clothes. Participants are encouraged to bring an apron or towel. Class meets at Craig Seath's Studio (1023 7th St, Hudson, WI). Please go to the building/studio behind the house. Please bring $25.00 for a material fee/person, which will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of class.
