Ever wondered how bread can rise without a single packet of yeast? Wonder no more and come hungry. In this hands-on sourdough class, you'll learn everything you need to go from "what's a starter?" to pulling a beautiful, crusty loaf out of your own oven at home. We'll cover the whole journey: building and maintaining a starter, understanding fermentation, shaping your dough like you mean it, and nailing the bake. And the best part? You won't leave empty-handed. Every student takes home a live, fermenting loaf ready to finish baking plus a mini loaf you bake right here in class, so you can taste your success before you even get to the car.

For those who want to set up their own home bread lab, optional starter kits ($65) will be available, packed with everything you need: a banneton, bowl with cover, scale, thermometer, starter jar, tea towel, dough scraper, spatula, and dough scorer. Please bring a large bowl and tea towel or lid if not purchasing the starter kit.

*While sourdough does contain gluten, the fermentation process often makes it easier to digest for those who are gluten-sensitive (though it’s still not recommended for those with celiac disease). Content is the same for each session.
