8th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance - April 27th
The 8th Annual “Daddy Daughter Dance” will be a fun-filled evening of dancing and activities for young girls and the special men in their lives. Open to girls ages 3-11 (pre-K through 5th grade). Cost is $30.00 for each parent/child couple plus $5.00 for each additional child. The evening includes live music, dancing, refreshments, a craft station, a keepsake photo and plenty of fun! Non-perishable food donations will be collected at the event for the Hudson Area Backpack Program.

This workshop shows attendees how developing a long-term care strategy can help them preserve independence, protect income and assets, and reassure their family about the future. Adult Pottery - Hand Building & Wheel Instruction with Stoneware Clay
Arts & Enrichment
In this three-session class, participants will be introduced to basic techniques of hand building, throwing on a potter’s wheel, and glazing. Using stoneware clay and earth tone glazes, participants will create pieces of art using an electric wheel, slab roller and extruder. The first two sessions are devoted to creating and the last session will focus on glazing. Both new and returning students are welcome. Participants are encouraged to dress in grubby clothes and bring an apron or towel. Class meets at Craig Seath's Studio (1023 7th St, Hudson WI). Please go to the building/studio behind the house. Please bring $35.00 for a material fee/person, which will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of class. The same instruction will be presented at each session; multiple sessions are offered for participant convenience.

A little bit of Rumba, a touch of Foxtrot, a smattering of Waltz and a jazzed up “high school prom Swing & Sway” are all it takes! With fun moves & simple tips, you’ll be out on the dance floor in no time! Couples only, please. Please register only one adult - it is not necessary to register both adults. When you register, you'll be asked to provide the name of your dance partner.

Basic Wood Carving 101
Special Interest
In this six-week course, you will learn about the different types of carving woods, styles of wood sculpture and basic techniques. Participants will create a natural bird sculpture (nuthatch) and learn shaping, detailing, finishing, painting with acrylics and mounting the finished sculpture. A material fee of $20.00 will be paid to the instructor on the first night of class.

The musical takes you on a joy-filled, emotional ride of a lifetime! Featuring more than two dozen hits including “One Fine Day,” “The Locomotion,” “So Far Away,” “Natural Woman,” “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling’,” and “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” this Tony- and Grammy-winning musical is filled with the songs you remember and a story you’ll never forget. Beginner Kayak Paddle on Lake Mallalieu

Join Mike Deneen of Willow Kayaks for this introductory kayak class and paddle on beautiful Lake Mallalieu. The first hour of this course will provide an introduction to kayaking and instruction. The last 90-minutes, you will get to practice your skills and free paddle on your own. We will be meeting at Corky’s Landing on 2nd Street. Children under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by an adult who will remain on site to supervise. Please specify your height and weight to ensure appropriate-sized equipment. Adults and children should register separately if they will be kayaking together. There is an inherent risk of accident and injury in any activity. The Hudson School District and Willow Kayaks assume no responsibility for injuries received during this activity. Participants will be asked to sign a waiver.

Beginning Yoga

Integrate what you've learned in Yoga 101 (not a required prerequisite) in this regular yoga class flow. An introduction to the principles of foundation, alignment and breath. Self-awareness and acceptance are essential. Honoring the beginner’s mind, we introduce basic poses that flow together. Build strength, increase flexibility and muscle tone, reduce stress and increase lung capacity. All levels are welcome. You’ll need to bring your own yoga mat. A bottle of water is recommended.

California Sushi Roll Extravaganza!

When it comes to actual sushi that is made with sushi grade raw fish such as salmon or tuna wrapped in rice and seaweed, the sushi tolerance spectrum runs from a very strong “YES” or a very strong “NO” with little wiggle room in between. Enter California “sushi” Rolls that overwhelmingly turn the strong “NO’s” into strong yeses! Join Tess as she walks you through how to make a variety of the most marvelous California "sushi" rolls that will make you wonder why you haven’t tried to make your own before. California “sushi” roll combinations are only limited by your imagination! Make them vegetarian, with or without seaweed, spicy or not, it is totally up to you! Learn the skill of creating delicious seasoned sushi rice, spicy mayo, and how to stuff/wrap/shape the rolls, with wonderful filling ingredients. One of these fillings is a “crab” salad that will be created using crab sticks. Make it a date night or family night as you create lasting memories in your kitchen! Have your questions answered by the instructor, interact with other participants as you cook along, and increase your confidence in the kitchen with each skill that is learned,and each little bit of advice and instruction that is shared. While cooking along is loads of fun, and highly recommended, it is optional. Participants will receive a list of ingredients in advance of the class with enough time for shopping and preparation. Please have a current email on file with Hudson Community Education. A professionally-made PDF packet of the Instructor’s Personal Recipes from this class will also be sent following completion of the class. No refunds can be issued after the ingredient packet has been emailed and received. This class will take place on Zoom, a free online software. Participants will receive instructions on how to access the class prior to it starting Ingredients/Supplies in case participants wish to order or shop early for some ingredients: Sushi rice, sushi nori/seaweed sheets, toasted sesame oil, (Japanese) rice vinegar. Additional ingredients will be listed in the information packet that will be sent a few days prior to the class start date. Bamboo sushi rolling mat can be helpful, but is not necessary. Note: One registration fee for this on-line virtual class can include immediate family members living full-time in the same home ONLY. If children are participating, adult supervision is required

Calling All Ladies! Owning The Power of Your Natural Female Hormones

Have you ever been called “hormonal” or asked “are you getting your period?” Have you felt dismissed—saying you are a “tired mom with children” or that “birth control is your only answer”? Have you felt “past your prime” or told your menopausal symptoms are “normal?” Hormones are critically important to our health and deserve much respect. Learn how to harness the power of your hormones. This class will be led by two Registered Naturopathic Doctors and is for all ladies ages 16+. We will discuss the major female hormones, their natural fluctuations, the health benefits and roles of these hormones, what symptoms can occur when they are disrupted, and active support that you can do at home in whatever natural female phase you are in to help you work with your hormones so you can thrive and feel your best. Both Dr. Danielle Vogler-Bos and Dr. April Jones are owners of their own private integrative medical practices and are licensed/registered Naturopathic Doctors that specialize in women’s health, focusing attention to menstrual, thyroid, adrenal, and skin conditions, as well as fertility and menopause support. Cell-level meditation involves recognizing the intricate relationship between cells, thoughts, emotions, and our body. You came into this world a perfect blend of high vibration for healthy cell activity. Every body system and organ functioned with ease and flow. Throughout life challenges, these relationships are hampered, and there can be a breakdown or disconnect. In this meditation series, we nurture a healthy environment for our cells to thrive through practices like meditation, mindfulness, affirmation, and self-awareness. Each student will receive an electronic journal. Students should bring a yoga mat and pillows/cushions.

Colorful Glass Mosaic Suncatcher or Table Lamp

Glass mosaic sounds like a fancy, difficult art form; however, in this class, you will learn how it can be fun and easy while creating a table lamp or suncatcher! Look through the idea book, browse the patterns and stencils, and choose from dozens of colors of precut glass. The first evening will involve homework and the second evening will be grouting. There will be time to make multiple suncatchers too! The 8”x8”x3” square lamp is $30, the 4”x9” rectangle lamp is $45. The 10” diameter suncatcher is $25, 8” is $23, and 6” is $18. Lamp/suncatcher fees are to be paid directly to the instructor on the first night of class. When registering, please indicate/select the project you’ll be making (8x8 lamp, 4x9 lamp, or suncatcher).

Cultivating Mindfulness + Meditation

Discover the power of mindfulness and meditation in this class. Cultivate a focused, present mind to enhance your well-being, reduce stress, and develop a deeper connection with yourself. This class will help students develop an understanding of mindfulness and guided meditation principles; explore using affirmations, mindfulness practices, and breathing techniques; learn to integrate these practices into a meditation practice that is personal and practical; and foster inner calm and resilience through the consistency of this work. This meditation class meets on Monday, April 22 and Monday, April 29, as well as Wednesday, May 1 and Wednesday, May 8. Class does not meet on April 24 or May 6. Students should bring a yoga mat and pillows/cushions.

Be the photographer you've always wanted to be! Learn your camera's capabilities and use them to create great photographs. Through hands-on and visual instruction, you will learn the many key functions of the digital SLR camera and mirrorless camera, including camera function, digital lingo, f-stops and shutter speeds, lens selection and perspective, equipment recommendations, camera settings and much more. Students should bring a DSLR camera to class, along with the camera’s owners manual.

Go Wild! Colorful Beginner Mosaics - Animal/Pet Portrait

Celebrate your pet or favorite animal in this mosaic workshop! Choose from vibrant colors and textures to make your piece stand out. A little mosaic experience is helpful, but not required. You will email a photo of the animal you would like to create two weeks prior to the class start date. If you do not want to create a pet design, the instructor will have simple shapes for you to choose from. Hudson Community Education will contact you approximately 2 weeks prior to the class start date to obtain a photo of the animal you would like to create. Please ensure that your email address is up to date. If you do not want to create an animal mosaic, no problem! The instructor will have other designs and simple shapes for you to choose from.

Whether you're thinking about buying your first home or your third home, now's the time to create a plan for one of your biggest investments and what it means for your future. Home Buying 101 features three experts to help you understand the steps involved in purchasing a home. Jill will touch on understanding home values, timing of your purchase, market statistics and why it is important to have a realtor representing you during the transaction from start to finish. Most importantly a lender will explain the pre-approval process and the various mortgage finance options and why credit scores are crucial in the pre-qualification process. They will also share what you will need to apply for a loan and why timing is so important to help you find your dream home. Finally, a licensed Home Inspector will share why it is important to have a home inspection and Radon testing. Matt Rappel will share what he looks at during the home inspection and will discuss the importance of having a radon test conducted in the home you are wanting to buy. Introduction to Thai Bodywork for Partners

This introduction to Thai Bodywork workshop will give a brief overview to the history and practice of this ancient healing modality. Thai bodywork integrates yoga, energy healing, and elemental theory. Bring a partner, friend, family member or significant other and learn together. Partners will alternate giving and receiving a short sequence of movement while laying passively on a yoga mat. You'll both move into various yoga poses and increasing stretch, creating body awareness, relaxation, and releasing tension.

Is Your Waistband Too Tight Today? Strategies for Beating Belly Bloat

Have you ever found that in the morning your pants fit fine but by mid-afternoon, the waistband squeezes you like a tourniquet? Or that no matter how many crunches you do, your stomach still hangs out? Getting rid of a potbelly is much more than just doing abdominal exercises. In this workshop, you will learn the main causes and six strategies for getting rid of belly bloat. We will do a few exercises designed to strengthen the deepest layer of abdominal muscle - the layer that is responsible for flattening your stomach, shaping your waistline, and supporting your lower back. And we will do this without getting on the floor.
