Saint Paul Gangsters and The Bell Museum

Community Education Adult & Family Classes / Travel/Trips & Tours -
Community Education - Fall Winter 2023-2024

Release your inner gangster and spark your curiosity when attending this fun day trip! We will begin the tour at the Wabasha Street Caves in St Paul, when a costumed gangster character joins us on the bus as we learn why Saint Paul was a center for bootlegging operations and criminal activities during the prohibition era and beyond. We will learn about notorious hoodlums including John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, Alvin "Creepy" Karpis, Fred Barker, Arthur "Doc" Barker, and Ma Barker. Journey through the days when Saint Paul was not so saintly and corruption filled the streets!

Lunch is included at the House of Wong, Roseville’s oldest family-owned restaurant, whose menu offers an extensive selection of quality American & Chinese entrees.

We will spend the afternoon visiting the University of Minnesota’s Bell Museum, Minnesota's official natural history museum and planetarium. Explore the origins of the universe, the diversity of life on earth, and take a walk through the state of Minnesota, featuring their world famous wildlife dioramas. Our visit will take amazing journeys from the far reaches of the cosmos as we visit the planetarium show, “Minnesota Night Skies.”

You will have free time to explore the museum and the gift shop. Entrance fees, motorcoach transportation, tour guide and lunch are included.

Tour will depart from the Hudson Park & Ride, 2340 Coulee Rd Hudson, WI (located at the intersection of Interstate 94/County Rd F/Carmichael Rd) at 8:00 AM and will return at approximately 4:00 PM.

Seating is limited so register early! Registration deadline: Friday, October 27, 2023. No refunds will be issued after this date. Tickets may be transferred to another person if you are unable to attend the trip. Notify Community Education immediately at (715) 377-3722 of any ticket transfers.

Please note: Some tour sites we visit may not be handicap accessible. The motorcoach bus does not have a wheelchair accessible lift.
